A lot of kids in rural areas grow up riding ATVs, many starting as passengers while still toddlers, and graduating to operating them as soon as they can reach the controls – if just barely! That high degree of familiarity doesn’t necessarily translate into a high level of safety, however, and ATV-related injuries and deaths are disturbingly high among children from 8 to 18 years.
