Back To School Resources

It’s about that time for parents and children across the country to be returning to school to begin another school year! With that in mind, we think it’s important to remember some key tips and resources that will keep our children safe and healthy throughout the school year.

The National Safety Council has released a Back to School Safety Checklist that covers everything from walkers to bike riders to bus riders to driving your child to school to teen drivers, as well as school safety related to backpacks, playgrounds, and sports. A quick list with powerful reminders.

School bus safety is a major topic being pushed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. While school buses are among the most regulated vehicles on the road, it’s the responsibility of all drivers to pay special attention around school buses and in school zones.

ADT goes on to provide some great information regarding clothing and school supplies. Their main focus is on preventing injuries due to backpacks. Some of these notes include making sure a backpack never weighs more than 10-15% of a child’s body weight and that children use both backpack straps.

The American Safety Council offers safety tips for parents, including making sure you provide your children’s schools with up to date contact information, getting to know other parents in your children’s schools, and monitoring the news and weather for updates that could affect your child’s school day.
